Elliott Landy and The Band

After learning the very sad news of Levon Helm’s passing yesterday I have been looking at Elliott Landy’s fantastic photographs of The Band. He photographed them extensively during 1968-69, at work while recording Music From Big Pink and “The Brown Album” and at play, hanging out in New York state.

Here are some of my favourites

Bearsville, Woodstock, NY, 1968

Outside Rick Danko’s Zena home, posing with his Hudson, Woodstock, NY, 1969

In the kitchen of “Big Pink”, Easter Sunday, West Saugerties, NY, 1968

In the basement of Rick Danko’s Zena Road home, Woodstock, 1969

Richard & Garth’s house above the Ashokan resevoir, infrared film, Woodstock, 1969

I was lucky enough to meet Elliott Landy at an exhibition in London in 2003 and he kindly signed my copy of Woodstock Dream

Now go and watch this!

Elliott Landy is putting together a Fine Art photography book of his images of THE BAND via Kickstarter. It will include the iconic images (from “Music from Big Pink” and “The Band; he was with The Band during the height of their musical career) as well as many never-before-seen gems.

To purchase the book and share, please go to our kickstarter page.
